The 27th Annual Kiwanis Independence Day 5K Race was a
big success. Pictured clockwise starting from upper left is the
check presentation to representatives from Camp Holiday Trails;
Kiwanians serving refreshments provided by a score of generous
sponsors; participants who ranged in age from 5 to 84; and
congratulations being offered to Andrew Parkins who finished with

Chartered
on April 3rd, 1922, the Kiwanis Club is one of the premier service
organizations not only in Charlottesville, but worldwide as well.
Thirty -eight
members come from many different backgrounds.
Kiwanis is a global
organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and
one community at a time.
There are over 350,000 members in 84
countries around the world.
The Charlottesville Club is one of more
than 180 Kiwanis Clubs in the
Capital District,
providing community service throughout:
Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and the
District of Columbia.
Division 5 of the Capital District has
clubs in:
Charlottesville, Alleghany
Highlands, Harrisonburg,
Lexington,
Shenandoah Valley, Staunton,
and Waynesboro.
Division 5 along with Division 19, with
clubs in Blue Ridge, Clarke
County, Front Royal, and
Winchester, constitute the
Presidential Region of the Capital District.
Club meets
first, second, and third Mondays. The fourth Monday is the "Dick Fowler Memorial
Service Work Night" at a different local agency each month. On the occasional
fifth Monday, we gather for another service work night.

Volunteers in Service
to the Community
Annually Charlottesville Kiwanians provide more than 1,400 hours of volunteer
community service, valued at more than $25,000. To see all the community
