The 27th Annual Kiwanis Independence Day 5K Race was a big success.  Pictured clockwise starting from upper left is the check presentation to representatives from Camp Holiday Trails; Kiwanians serving refreshments provided by a score of generous sponsors; participants who ranged in age from 5 to 84; and congratulations being offered to Andrew Parkins who finished with a time of 16:45.  Click here to view the thank you ad that appeared in The Daily Progress.

Presented by major sponsor Better Living Inc. in cooperation with The Charlottesville Track Club to benefit Camp Holiday Trails

Chartered on April 3rd, 1922, the Kiwanis Club is one of the premier service organizations not only in Charlottesville, but worldwide as well.

Thirty-eight members come from many different backgrounds.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time.

There are over 350,000 members in 84 countries around the world.

The Charlottesville Club is one of more than 180 Kiwanis Clubs in the Capital District, providing community service throughout:

Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

Division 5 of the Capital District has clubs in:

 Charlottesville, Alleghany Highlands, Harrisonburg,

Lexington, Shenandoah Valley, Staunton, and Waynesboro.

Division 5 along with Division 19, with clubs in Blue Ridge, Clarke County, Front Royal, and Winchester, constitute the Presidential Region of the Capital District.

Club meets first, second, and third Mondays. The fourth Monday is the "Dick Fowler Memorial Service Work Night" at a different local agency each month. On the occasional fifth Monday, we gather for another service work night.
